Coastal Civic Review

Write for us

Coastal Civic Review welcomes pitches that help readers understand coastal places as shared, lived geography. We are interested in a sharply framed idea with a clear reader benefit, not a broad promise to cover the coast. A useful contribution may explain a concept, compare two kinds of place or map, or draw attention to an overlooked feature without relying on unsupported claims.

What to pitch

Send a short proposal about a focused subject such as the way a coastal path is represented on maps, the difference between a promenade and a working waterfront, or how a shoreline can function as both edge and route. Explain the central idea, what the reader will understand by the end, and why the subject suits Coastal Civic Review. We favour evergreen pieces that can be useful without statistics, first-hand testing or specialist instructions.

A good submission

Keep the proposed piece clear, specific and grounded. Define specialist terms, distinguish general patterns from place-specific facts, and identify sources for claims that need verification. Do not include confidential material or present legal, engineering, environmental or safety guidance as if it were professional advice. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time.

Where to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a brief summary and any relevant background about the idea, without sending a complete article unless requested. Please do not send confidential information.
